Acting Area Dean – Jonathan Roberts

Jonathan Roberts is Vicar of Camberwell St Michael, Chaplain to Ark All Saints Academy (the latest
name for an ancient church secondary school) and Parish Development Adviser for the Woolwich
Episcopal Area.

Jonathan was ordained in Leicester in 1984 and 1985 where he worked in parishes in Shepshed and
Braunstone as well as helping with Diocesan Youth work and Radio Leicester. He has worked for
most of his life in the North East. He was Diocesan Youth Adviser for Durham, and Rector of
Washington. Jonathan ran a community development company (CWACNEE), and taught and researched at
Teesside University in the School of Social Sciences. Jonathan and his wife Carolyn met
at King’s College London in 1979 where they studied Theology. They returned to London in 1992
when he was National Youth Officer for the General Synod. They returned to London again when
Carolyn began her 3 rd Headship of a secondary school at Thomas Tallis in Greenwich Borough.
